Diligent Writing Keep The Sharpness Of The Brain

Diligent Writing Keep The Sharpness Of The Brain - Laptop and notebook applications now seeming to make pen and paper to look "antique". However, the type of material with the keyboard does not improve learning as when you choose to take notes by hand and pen.

Researchers at Princeton University and the University of California at Los Angeles found, rather than those who are typing, the people who write the hand was able to capture the lessons better, retain the information longer, and easier to understand new ideas.

"Writing hand makes the brain function associated with the ability to learn to be sharper than when typing," said psychologist Kenneth Kiewra education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, who studied the differences in writing and setting information.

"Writing hand is a dynamic process," said cognitive psychologist Michael Friedmanat Harvard University, "you reprocess what you hear in your mind."

But today, almost all students, especially students, have a "portable computers". Typing with the keyboard ever seems to have become part of higher education.

No question about it, generally the person typing lessons on a laptop could write more in a shorter time than people who write with a pen or pencil, analysis the researchers.

Students who can type with keybord noted the 33 words per minute, was a studentwriting hand just 22 words per minute.

Although recorded by hand for longer, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found, students who take notes with handwriting can be given lessons in College longer than students who take notes using the keyboard.

Researchers reported, the study involving 80 students and has been published in the Journal of Educational Psychology.

The researchers found, the person who recorded the keyboard tend to forget about the material recorded within 24 hours. Instead, they are noted by hand can remember the lecture material longer, even up to a week later.

According to researchers, writing by hand makes the brain more organized in the recording memory, so that the memory of the material written is becoming longer.

In three experiments for 2014, psychologist Pam a. Mueller from Princeton and Daniel Oppenheimer of UCLA never tested 67 students when writing the material either via the keyboard or pen. Then, students are tested on the material a week later after being given the opportunity to review their records.

As a result, students who write hand using words that are a little more on their records, but tend to think more intensely about the material they write, digest it and more carefully, said researcher in Psychological Science.

"Writing hand help you study," said Dr. Oppenheimer. (source:wallstreetjurnal.com)
