Although the surgery has been shown to help weight loss mission, but on the other hand it is also very likely decrease the absorption of vitamins significantly, including vitamin A, according to the report.

Before undergoing surgery, the woman had been told that vitamin deficiencies arecommon side effects occur after surgery, so that taking multivitamins can prevent things relating to vitamin deficiency can be prevented.

But according to Kirkland, multivitamins alone is not enough to keep someone from the condition of severe vitamin A deficiency.

"This case is the second related report is the occurrence of eye disease due to weight loss surgery," said Kirkland.

To treat vitamin A deficiency, the women have been given intravenously (IV) vitaminand it has been reported that the symptoms and vision problems is improving.

However, the authors noted that to prevent eye disease coming back, these women need to receive intravenous vitamin A to he could undergo another operation to change back form his bowels in order fix the problem permanently.
